DD of scrotal swelling


- on the scrotum à sbaceous cyst



- in the scrotum :


A- extend above the scrotum à hernia



B- soft


- Varicocele:


n in 25% of normal population


n rarely in renal neoplasm spreading in the left renal vein


- epididymal cyst (spermatocele).


- Hematocele (collection of blood withing the tunica vaginalis)


- hydrocele:


n primary à idiopathic


n secondary à (trauma, epididymo-orchitis, tumor, lymphatic obstruction)



C- hard + painless


- Tumor :


n Teratomas (a malignanat germ cell tumor)


n seminoma (carcinoma of seminiferous tubules)


- Lymphadenopathy.


- Syphilis (gumma, billiardo ball testis).


- Tuberculosis.


- Hematoma.



D- painful


- Torsion of testis.


- Torsion of hydatid morgagni.


- Epididymitis (associated with UTI).


- Orchitis:


n viral (mumps, glandular fever)


n bacterial (coliform, Chlamydia)


- Sperm granuloma (after vasectomy).
